Bolivien - Idee und Ziele                                                                                                                                            

 

Hallo, mein Name ist Matthia.

Es freut mich, dass Du meinen Blog über mein anstehendes FSJ in Lateinamerika liest. Was steckt dahinter, was treibt mich an, nach dem Abitur für ein Jahr als Freiwillige in Bolivien zu arbeiten?

Zunächst muss ich einiges über mein bisheriges Leben erzählen.  In der 5. Klasse wählte ich auf dem Gymnasium Spanisch als 2. Fremdsprache.  Niemals hatte ich mir damals vorgestellt, dies irgendwann anzuwenden. Nachdem ich bis zur neunten Klasse fast vier Jahre lang Spanisch gelernt hatte, nahm ich am Ecuador-Austausch meiner Schule teil. Als Teil einer  zwanzigköpfigen Gruppe von Schülern flog ich im April 2011 für vier Wochen nach Quito/Ecuador.  Der Vater meiner Austauschpartnerin war gebürtiger Österreicher, sodass sie ebenfalls perfekt Deutsch sprach. Während dieses ersten Aufenthaltes in Südamerika fiel es mir noch schwer, selbstverständlich ins Spanische zu wechseln. Trotzdem machte ich viele neue Erfahrungen, fand Gefallen an den lateinamerikanischen Rhythmen des Reggaeton und eine liebenswerte Austauschpartnerin mit sehr vielen Gemeinsamkeiten.  Ein Jahr später entschied ich mich vor der Oberstufe, für ein Jahr ins englischsprachige Ausland zu gehen. Fernweh hatte ich bereits seitdem ich Englisch lernte. Somit sollte es dann Kanada für ein Jahr werden: das Schuljahr 2012/13 verbrachte ich in Vancouver. Ich profitierte nicht nur auf sprachlicher Ebene von meinem Aufenthalt, sondern hatte das Glück, in einer bunten Stadt  innerhalb einer multikulturellen Familie zu leben; gemeinsam mit einer Mexikanerin und einer Chinesin lebte ich das eine Jahr bei einer kanadischen Familie. Wir rauften uns zu einer kleinen Familie zusammen und so gewann ich eine mexikanische und eine chinesische „Schwester“. Dieses eine Jahr machte mich neugierig und wissenshungrig; ich wollte Antworten auf Fragen suchen, die ich mir zu stellen begann, wollte Kulturen mitsamt ihren Traditionen von innen heraus erleben.

Als Danielas Familie mich 2014 nach Mexiko einlud, reiste ich nach Mexiko. Einen Monat lang nahm mich Danies Familie auf und vermittelte mir die mexikanische Lebensart. Ihre Herzlichkeit, der Reichtum der Kultur, die Schönheit der Sprache, all das faszinierte mich. Sie zeigten mir Mexiko-Stadt in seiner Vielfalt, all das, wovon ich zuvor nur im Spanisch-Unterricht gelesen und gehört hatte; sie flogen mit mir ins Ferienparadies Cancún und gaben mir Sicherheit nach einem Erdbeben. Währenddessen schrieb ich auch meine Facharbeit in Politik über das Thema „Kinderarbeit in Bolivien“. Ich lernte viel über das Land und seinen von Deutschland so verschiedenen politischen, sozialen und gesellschaftlichen Konzepten und wurde neugierig. Mir wurde deutlich, dass ich mich noch intensiver mit der Sprache, den Menschen und Kulturen Südamerikas auseinandersetzen wollte.

Im Sommer 2014 hatte ich das Glück, an einer internationalen Jugendbegegnung des Hostelling International in Tunesien teilzunehmen. Gemeinsam mit drei anderen jungen Deutschen begegnete ich jeweils vier Jugendlichen aus den USA, Frankreich, Libanon, Tunesien und Ägypten, die ihre Heimatländer und Kultur vertraten. Ziel dieser Begegnung war der Austausch gemeinsamer Werte und der Abbau von Vorurteilen (im Rahmen von Diskussionsrunden, Ausflügen und Aktionen), um  eine „Kultur des Friedens“ zu schaffen. Die Begegnung mit jungen Menschen aus Ländern mit anderen Wirtschafts- und Bildungssystemen, z. T. mit politischer Verfolgung und aktuellen Umbrüchen zeigte mir, wie unterschiedlich die Lebensbedingungen von Menschen auf dieser Welt sind.

Mit meinem Freiwilligendienst möchte ich ein wenig von dem zurückgeben, was mir in meinem Leben geschenkt worden ist. Ich möchte mich einsetzen für Gerechtigkeit und Frieden, den Menschen Geborgenheit schenken und Freude schaffen. Zugleich hoffe ich, mich durch die Begegnung mit den Menschen in Bolivien weiterentwickeln und auch dort Heimat finden zu können.

Bolivia- Idea and Aims

 

Hello, I am Matthia and I am happy that you are reading this blog about my upcoming volunteer service in Latin America. So what is it that drives me to go to Bolivia and work there as a volunteer after graduating from High School?

First of all I have to tell you about my life so far. In grade 5 I chose Spanish as my second foreign language. Back then I had never imagined using it in my everyday life. Having studied Spanish for four years in grade 9 I took part in the Ecuador-exchange between my High School and the Colegio Aleman in Quito/ Ecuador. Together with about twenty other students of my age I lived in Quito for four weeks. The father of my exchange partner was Austrian, so that she also spoke German fluently. During this first stay in South America it was hard for me to switch into Spanish. However, I made a lot of new experiences, enjoyed Latin-American rhythms of Reggaeton and made friends with my lovely exchange partner.

A year later I decided to go abroad to an English-speaking country. Wanderlust had affected me ever since I had been started studying English so that I then chose to go to Canada for a year. I did not only improve my language skills, moreover I benefited from living in a vivid city in a multicultural family: together with a Mexican and a Chinese I lived in a Canadian family, so that I luckily won a Mexican and a Chinese “sister”. This one year made me curious and inquisitive; I wanted to find answers to the questions I started to ask myself, wanted to experience cultures and traditions from their inside out.

When Daniela’s family invited me to Mexico in 2014, I travelled there to visit them. For a month her family hosted me warmly and showed me the Mexican way of life. Their cordiality, the richness of their culture, the beauty of the language- all that fascinated me! They showed me the diversity of Mexico City, everything of which I before had only heard or read about in Spanish class; they took me to Cancún and made me feel secure after an earthquake. During my stay in Mexico I also wrote my term paper in Politics with the topic “Child labour in Bolivia”. I learnt a lot about the country and its differing concepts of political, economic and social life. I realized I wanted to concern myself more with the language, the people and the cultures of South America.

In August 2014 I was lucky to take part in an international youth encounter in Tunisia organized by Hostelling International. Together with three other Germans I encountered four young representatives of each participating country and culture (USA, France, Lebanon, Tunisia and Egypt). The goal of this program was the exchange of mutual values and the reduction of prejudices (through group discussions, excursions and activities) to build a “culture of peace”.

The encounter of people of my age from foreign countries with different economic and education systems, partly with political prosecution and current upheavals, showed me what different kind of living conditions exist in this world.

With my volunteer service I want to give back some of the luck that was given to me in my life. I want to stand up for justice and peace, I want to help and share happiness. At the same time I hope to develop further through the encounter with the people in Bolivia and to find my place there.

Bolivia- Idea y Metas

 

Hola, me llamo Matthia.

Me alegro de qu estás leyendo mi blog sobre mi iminente año voluntario en Latinoamérica. Entonces ¿que es lo que me incita a trabajar un año como voluntaria en Bolivia después de la preparatoria ?

Primero tengo que contar algunas cosas sobre mi vida hasta ahora. En la Secundaria elegí Español como segunda lengua extranjera. Nunca me había imaginado usarlo algún día. Hasta el grado nueve había estudiado Español por cuatro años y tomé parte en el intercambio de mi escuela con Ecuador. Con veinte otros participantes pasé cuatro semanas en Quito. El padre de mi compañera de imtercambio era austriaco, así que  ella también hablaba Alemán perfectamente. Durante esta primera estancia en América del Sur me pareció difícil hablar Español. Sin embargo hize muchas experiencias, encontré mi pasión para música latinoaméricana y a una compañera/ amiga muy linda.

Un año después decidí irme a Canadá, había tenido ganas de ir al extranjero desde empezar a estudiar el inglés. Así pasé el año escolar 2012/13 en Vancouver. Allá tuve la suerte de vivir con una mexicana y una china en una familia canadiense. Llegabamis a ser una pequeña familia y así gané una « hermana mexicana« y una « hermana china ». Este año me hizo curiosa y ávida de conocimiento; quería encontrar respuestas a las preguntas que empezaba a cuestionar, quería conocer a culturas y sus tradiciones profundamente.

Cuando la familia de Daniela me invitó a México en 2014, viajé a México. Un mes la familia de ella me dió cabida cariñosamente y me enseñaron el estilo de vida mexicano. Su cariño, la riqueza de la cultura, la belleza del idioma, todo eso me fascinaba. Me enseñaron el D.F. en su diversidad, todo de lo que solo había escuchado o leído en la clase de Español antes; me llevaron de vacaciones a Cancún y me consolaron después de un terremoto. Durante mi estancia tenía que escribir un trabajo de investigación de políticas para el colegio con el tema « trabajo infantil en Bolivia ». Aprendía mucho sobre el país y sus conceptos políticos y sociales muy diferentes de Alemania y me daba curiosidad. Realicé que quería ocuparme más intensivamente con el idioma, la gente y la cultura de Suramérica.

En verano 2014 tuve la suerte de participar en un encuentro jovenil en Túniz organizado por Hostelling International. Junto con très otros alemanes encontré a cuatro jóvenes de cada país : EEUU, Francia, el Líbanon, Egipto y Túniz, que representaron su país y su cultura. La meta de este encuentro era el intercambio de valores compartidos y la reducción de prejuicios, de manera que una  «cultura de paz «  está creída. El encuentro con jóvenes con otros sístemas de economía y educación, en parte con persecución política y cambios actuales, me enseñó las diferentes condiciones de vida de gente en este mundo.

Con mi servicio voluntario quiero revolver un poco de todo lo que me era regalado en mi vida. Quiero abogar por justicia y paz, quiero regalar la gente cariño y hacerles alegría. Al mismo tiempo espero desarollarme por el encuentro con las personas en Bolivia y después de todo espero encontrar mi hogar allá.
